We’ve been waiting to hear this announcement ever since the Vivo V80 Lite arrived in Pakistan. They’ve unveiled the standard Vivo V80 today in the Asian market. The design has changed well beyond recognition. But there are barely any upgrades over the older V70. It’s probably coming to Pakistan later on, so you should get familiar with it.
The first and probably the most obvious change is the battery. It has gotten bigger, from 6500mAh to 7200mAh. This is still a Si/C pack. The upgrade would add a few more hours of screen time to the V80. You won’t refill it any quicker, though. It rehashes the 90W charging support.
There’s one other upgrade on the display. This newcomer apparently has a 144Hz now, and it will make the UI even smoother. This is still a 6.59” AMOLED at 1.5K or FHD+ 1080p resolution (unconfirmed). And there’s up to 5000 nits of local peak brightness here. By the way, take a look at the Vivo Price List to see which Vivo phones offer the best value in Pakistan.
They’ve made room on the screen for a 50MP selfie camera under the hole cutout. We have the ZEISS logo on its camera bar. Yes, the V80 also switched up the design to look like an iPhone. The optics look the same on paper, though there’s one huge upgrade.
The camera stack has a 50MP main camera. That’s a Sony LYT 700V sensor with OIS and PDAF. Now you can do 4K 60 FPS and 4K cinematic recording on the camera. That’s the big upgrade. You have a 50MP periscope telephoto camera right next to it.
The zoom sensor is a Sony IMX 882. It reaches 3x optical zoom with OIS. A standard 8MP ultrawide sensor is installed on the third camera. A Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip does the post-processing for all your photos and video. Sadly, there’s no general performance upgrade of any kind.
Vivo gave it the same chip they’ve used for the past two generations. This is the third time the SD 7 Gen 4 has appeared on the V series. Anyway, the base storage is now reduced to 128GB. You get Android 17 out of the box. IP69 rating will keep the phone safe. Vivo V80 (8/128GB) base price has surged to ~$652 (~PKR 180,000).
