Another Vivo V lineup is passing us by after a very short 6-month cycle. Apparently, the Vivo V80 series is coming next month. The rumor mill has kept tabs on the lineup for some time now. And a leaker on X may have found the exact key specs on the main handset, which is the vanilla Vivo V80.

The source of the leak isn’t well known. But the details he showed on X sound accurate enough that a bunch of publications have already cited the tweet. The leaker seems to believe that possibly around mid-August, the Vivo V80 series will debut.
The specs he shared in the post probably belong to the vanilla Vivo V80. Its frame is made of metal; more specifically, it’s aluminum alloy. Of course, Vivo phones in this class have had IP68/IP69 ratings for generations, and this newcomer has the same durability.
Vivo V70 had the 3D Ultrasonic fingerprint reader, and so does the new V80. The camera setup is also going to repeat this year. No upgrades or extra lenses. There’s a 50MP sensor on the main lens. Then comes the 8MP Ultrawide, and the V80 also has the 3x 50MP telephoto zoom. Here is the complete Vivo smartphone price list featuring the newest releases.

Every sensor has ZEISS calibration, by the way. The screen, which is a 6.59” flat AMOLED, has a punch hole where a third 50MP sensor is used for selfies. The post said that this newcomer will have a 144Hz refresh rate and there will be a pretty sharp 1.5K resolution.
The chipset doing the heavy lifting is actually a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. Vivo V80 is the third device in a row to use the exact same chipset. The 7 Gen 4 was seen on the V70 and the V60 before it. But in Vivo’s defence, a 6-month duration between each series doesn’t leave room for a chipset upgrade every generation.
What they do want to upgrade is the battery size on the V80. Only a 6500mAh cell was used on the older V70. But this newcomer will change that to 7200mAh. This will get you a few more hours of screen time. It will recharge over a 90W FlashCharge input. Keep watching the news for more updates.
