Some sketches have leaked, featuring the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra, and those images show the continuation of a design trait all the way back from the Galaxy S25 Ultra. They want to make the corners more rounded this year. The image we found on X compared it to the current flagship.
The phone’s middle frame is thicker. There’s definitely a horizontal bar. And a lens stack right on top of it. But images from Ice specifically put the focus on the bottom of the phone to point out something important. Galaxy S27 Ultra still has a flat design, and the corners are rounded as well.
The metal middle frame around the screen and back is not completely flat. The edges are beveled, which would make the grip a bit more comfortable. Ice Universe actually put an arrow on the image, and this showed exactly where the design changes lie.
The image of the phone you see above is the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The front and back surfaces are way sharper on that device, but it’s thinner for sure. It would seem the new design has a weight and bulk tax. The S27 Ultra is definitely thicker, which is a good thing. The entire reason for the design change is to make the design compatible with magnetic accessories. The wireless charging coil on the Ultra will now come with magnets. And this will have several obvious benefits. The speaker grille is in the same position again, but the SIM tray doesn’t exist at the bottom.
Softer edges will make a big difference. They got rid of the palm-jabbing corner first and eventually made the rest of the sharp edges rounder.
