Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Camera Details Tipped; Only Minor Upgrades Expected

The Galaxy S26 series launch is still a month away, yet the build-up for 2027’s Galaxy S27 Ultra has already started. The leaks are piling up, and we have received a word about the S27 Ultra’s upgraded camera setup. Here’s everything we know about it.

IceUniverse is keeping track of all the plans Samsung has for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. He found that the company may finally change the primary sensor on the device in 2027. They’ve been using the Samsung ISOCELL HP2 sensor for generations. Even the S26 Ultra is locked for HP2.

But the Galaxy S27 Ultra should move on to a sensor known as ISOCELL S5KHP6. Now, this is still a 200MP camera; the sensor size is also the same as the ISOCELL HP2 1/1.3” with an f/1.7 aperture lens. But the actual upgrades are targeting the output and technologies, not the physical changes.

Simply put, this will be a generational quality boost for the camera. There’s not going to be a day-and-night difference between the S26 Ultra and S27 Ultra. That tends to happen when no physical changes are made to the camera, and Samsung is famously known to rely too much on software optimizations. But all of us know that these come at a cost, as the latest Samsung mobile prices are always premium.

IceUniverse posted another leak a while ago, and he talked about the Ultrawide and Selfie shooter getting an upgrade on the Galaxy S27 Ultra. There’s no telling what exact changes are being made to the phone, because it’s too early. At least the S27 Ultra’s camera setup is starting to shape up.

Reports from last year infer that the S27 Ultra may not have a dedicated S Pen slot. The S Pen support itself might be gone from this model. The latter statement is a bit far-fetched, we know, but this is a possibility.

Samsung pulled S Pen Bluetooth functionality from the current S25 Ultra. And they’ve also completely removed S Pen support from the Z Fold 7. At this point, it wouldn’t be a shock if they removed the S Pen silo from the future S27 Ultra and made it thinner with extra room for the battery.
