We’ve seen plenty of fan-made renders over the months. Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra would change the rear design, but that’s not how it’s going to look. Apparently, they want to introduce a horizontal camera bar design to the Galaxy S27 Ultra next year. It was leaked with images.
You don’t have to wonder where they got the idea for this design. It’s not original, and Samsung is definitely copying Apple here, more specifically their iPhone 17 Pro. But that’s beside the point. Digital Chat Station revealed the S27 Ultra design on Weibo through a couple of images.
Today, the same images have gotten a nod of approval from Sony Dickson as well. He also agrees that this is the design direction the Galaxy S27 Ultra will be taking. This is the most drastic change we’ve seen on a Samsung phone over half a decade, by the way.
There’s more. An even bigger revelation was made by Dickson today. He said that the S27 Ultra will be deployed in two different sizes. That’s the first Ultra device to do that. Those same images were used by Ice Universe in a later leak that showed us exactly where each camera goes inside the stack. It’s not a penta lens setup anymore. The phone might not have a 3X telephoto this time. The other three cameras will be there, no change.
Yes, a main camera is present next to a 5X telephoto lens, most likely a 200MP and 50MP pair. These are separated into a single column. There’s a second column on the camera bar where they put ultrawide and ToF sensors.
But what’s the reason for this design change? Apparently, it’s to improve the wireless charging. 2027 may be the year when Samsung officially puts magnets on the wireless coil. And it could also add support for magnetic accessories.
