Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Rumored to Get a Design Overhaul and Lose a Camera

Samsung has been using the same Galaxy Ultra design for many generations at this point. That’s something they intend to improve with the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra. We’ve come across a leak that seems to confirm a complete design overhaul for next year’s Ultra handset.

The phone will look something like this. No, the leaker did not provide these renders. It’s just a preview based on the rumored details about the design. Ice Universe learned that Samsung may not include the smaller 3X Telephoto lens on the back anymore.

The camera island will no longer be the penta-lens vertical arrangement. They angle the camera plate horizontally, as the images here show us. Three lenses are stacked within, and a flash. The newcomer will look more or less the same at the front.

The leak does concern us about the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s position if there are just three cameras. Doesn’t it just become a regular Galaxy S27 Plus if that’s the case? In Samsung’s defence, though, the 3x teletphoto function might merge with the single periscope teletphot lens on the Ultra. Here you can check out Samsung Price catalog that shows the newly released Galaxy S26 series, and the latest A-series.

You won’t be missing a thing, and this little change makes the manufacturing and design that much more practical. Vivo X300 Ultra gets away with the best camera setup using only 3 lenses. So why not the Galaxy S27 Ultra? Besides the design, we hear this phone might get a storage speed upgrade.

According to yeux1122, the Galaxy S27 series is being considered for a storage upgrade to UFS 5.0. This new standard can take the read speeds all the way up to 10.8 Gbps. The older UFS 4.1 could only hit 5.8 Gbps. These sorts of storage speeds could only be supported by a flagship SoC.

We hear Samsung is putting together the hardware, all planned around the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. That’s a 2nm SoC, and it will probably hit a theoretical 5 GHz clock speed. They could also use a 1” 200MP sensor on this phone. There’s still plenty to be discovered about the S27 Ultra. Keep watching the news for updates.
