Xiaomi Poco X8s Clears Certification, Geekbench Reveals Key Specs Ahead of Launch

Their Poco X series is a premium midrange line, and the company has already unveiled at least four devices from its latest X8 family. It looks like there’s a fifth model on the way. It will be called the Xiaomi Poco X8s. It passed Singapore’s IMDA certification, and we also found it in the Geekbench database.

“2609CPC5FG” is the phone’s model code, and it was seen in the IMDA filing and the Geekbench database. They are definitely the same device. Even the European EEC and IECEE had cleared this phone earlier. The Poco X8s is a global version (note the letter “G” in the model number).

Model numbers are one thing. But how do we know the name? Well, the Poco X8s moniker was actually leaked by XimiTime today. We assume it’s true, though we are still looking for more evidence. It seems the newcomer is sandwiched right in the middle of its Poco X8 and X8 Pro siblings.

Anyway, they did a test run on Geekbench. And the platform kept a few details for itself in its public directory. You’ll see the phone’s model number right up front. Poco X8s has Android 16 by default. The chipset they’ve used here is a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4.

This is a familiar eight-core CPU at 2.8 GHz, and its performance is pretty much in the mid-tier. The version Geekbench tested had 12GB of physical RAM. Single-core managed to hit 972 points. But multicore scores went all the way up to 3297 points. That’s about what you would normally expect from SD 7 Gen 4.

The vanilla Poco X8 was actually built around an SD 6s Gen 4 SoC. And the Poco X8 Pro has a faster Dimensity 8500 Ultra. Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is somewhere in the middle. That’s probably where the Poco X8s will end up positioning itself, at least in theory.

There’s even a Chinese version of the X8s with model M583CF. Poco phones are usually just rebranded Redmi phones, so that moniker is definitely changing inside China. But not for the rest of the world. Again, the name’s not confirmed yet, but we are on the lookout. Keep watching the news for updates.
