There’s more news on the camera changes coming to the Galaxy S27 lineup. A source in Germany parroted an earlier leak that Samsung will use Sony cameras on the basic Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus. But what’s new is that the Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra might also grab their 50MP Ultrawide sensors from Sony this time.
It seems Sony has one or more cameras on each of the Galaxy S27 phones this year. There are probably four main handsets in the series up next. NM1, NM2, NM3, and NM4 are the possible codenames for each. NM1 is S27, NM2 is S27 Plus, and on you go.
We conceded the possibility that Samsung might actually put a 50MP Sony main camera on the Samsung Galaxy S model and S27 Plus, which will be their first attempt to outsource cameras from a third party in a long while. But we didn't expect it to happen to all four models. WinFuture has found out that Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra might also use a Sony sensor under the 50MP ultrawide lens.
The specific module from Sony is the IMX 855 1/2.55” type 50MP sensor, and apparently, the Ultra and Pro share the same outsole. The report says only three cameras are coming to the Galaxy S27 Pro. The past leaks said the same thing about the S27 Ultra having three cameras, but WinFuture disagrees.
The report says a quad-lens camera stack is much more realistic on the Galaxy S27 Ultra, with possibly two telephoto lenses, just like old times. That’s how the Ultra will part itself from the Pro model, which is supposed to have just a single telephoto lens.
There are obviously more than one reason to pick the Ultra over the Pro. The S Pen and a new-gen 200MP camera come to mind. Of course, you have a more diverse telephoto system in the Ultra. But these two models have the same chips and a 16MP selfie snapper.
This is another credible source that has claimed a Sony 50MP main camera on the Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus. That’s all the more reason to believe in the rumor. We’ll see the lineup in the first quarter of 2027. Keep watching the news for more updates.
