Samsung is almost done rolling out the One UI 8.5 update to all eligible Galaxy phones and tablets. So they’ve started working on the next big update, which is the One UI 9 based on Android 17. There are fewer Galaxy devices eligible for it, though the Galaxy A34 is still in the running alongside the Samsung Galaxy A57.
The two phones were seen on Samsung update servers with firmware codes for the One UI 9.0 build. It’s not being deployed yet, but seeing it on the official servers means they are working on it. It is also proof that Galaxy A57 and A34 are both eligible for One UI 9.
Tarun Vats is the leaker who first caught the firmwares A346BXXUFGZF1 and A576BXXU3BZF3 on Samsung servers. He wasted no time and posted the details straight to X. The leaker didn’t say whether the update is a beta test version or not. Here you can check out the latest Samsung A model and find the perfect smartphone for your needs.
We believe it’s just the start before more devices are listed with the same One UI 9.0 firmware, which will later go into beta testing, and then the stable update cycle will begin, taking months in the process. We are, however, inching closer to Galaxy Z Fold 8’s launch, which is bound to have One UI 9 by default.
By the way, the beta One UI 9 program for the Galaxy S26 series kicked off back on May 12th, so we do have a few details on hand. It’s a UI design overhaul for the most part. Brightness and volume sliders are thicker now. Waveform animations are refined on the quick panel media player widget.
The media widget on the lock screen doesn’t say “Media Output” anymore. It says “This Phone” to control where the audio is coming from. Player controls are now circular individual buttons. There are glassy UI effects everywhere in the system. Digital Wellbeing and Galaxy AI are also being updated. We have just scratched the surface. There’s much more to come on the stable One UI 9. Keep watching the news for updates.
