The first foldable device from Apple is actually called the Apple iPhone Duo. They unveiled the handset today with a corner-to-corner cover screen and a 7.6” folding OLED. Each display has the same aspect ratio and brightness. Apple also revived Touch ID for the iPhone Duo.

The screens are SuperRetina ProMotion 120Hz XDR OLEDs. Each one has a 1600nits HBM and 3000nits peak brightness. Of course, the bigger screen that folds inwards is a 7.6” panel that has a custom nano texture to reduce glare and reflection. This makes the crease almost invisible.
The cover screen is a smaller 5.4” OLED, and it has the same specs as the main display. Though it is more durable with Ceramic Glass 2 for obvious reasons. The selfie camera on the cover disrupts the view, though they did hide the inner selfie lens behind the folding screen with a layer of pixels.

Apparently, the hinge on iPhone Duo is made of titanium and has a magnetic array around it for a satisfying snap when you fold it up. There’s no Face ID, by the way. They’ve put a Touch ID on the side. It’s on the power key. Volume buttons are at the top, not the sides. They hide the specs of the inner selfie camera, but the one in the cover screen is a 12MP Center Stage unit, which is also used on the iPhone 18 Pro. 48MP Fusion main camera sits on the back next to a 48MP ultrawide lens (doubles as a macro shooter).

Apple A20 Pro is the chipset used on the iPhone Duo, and it’s their first 2nm platform. The CPU has six cores here. And the GPU has seven. They say the SoC is 20% faster on CPU and 40% faster on the GPU. The dual 16-core NPUs make the neural engine twice as fast as Apple A19 Pro.

They’ve also added a custom N1 chip on the iPhone Duo, and it has both BT 6 and WiFi 7. The phone only has an eSIM version, by the way. Qi2 charging and MagSafe are both supported. 50% charging only takes 20 minutes on the wire. The software is iOS 27.
They are supposed to sell the device on October 23rd, though pre-orders will open early on October 16th. iPhone Duo is floored at a base MSRP of $1,999 (~PKR 554,000) for 256GB, and the price will stretch all the way to $3,199 (~PKR 886,000) for the 2TB model.
