Samsung Galaxy A57 and A37 Unveiled with New Chipsets, IP68 Rating & One UI 8.5

The Awesome series has been updated. They’ve finally debuted the Samsung Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37. Sadly, the A27 wasn’t a part of the launch event. These two newcomers have minor tweaks and upgrades. Most of the changes lean heavily on the software side. We have all the details right here.

Samsung Galaxy A57

One upgrade that we already saw coming is the new Exynos 1680 chip on the Galaxy A57. That’s a 4nm SoC, by the way. There’s a new Xclipse 550 iGPU and a faster clock speed on the main core. The NPU was boosted to 19.6 TOPS, so it has better AI performance as well.

A 13% bigger vapor chamber on the A57 could help with sustained loads. There’s a metal middle frame, same as before. Yet the phone’s thickness has gone down to 6.9mm (vs. 7.4mm on Galaxy A56). This newcomer is also 20 grams lighter this time, and they managed to bump the waterproof rating to IP68.

There’s still a 5000mAh battery inside it. No charger in the box. But it does support 45W input to refill 60% in 30 minutes. The base RAM is now 8GB with 128GB of storage. No 6GB option this year, which is a huge relief. There are also three other options: 8/256GB, 12/256GB, or 12/512GB.

The screen hasn’t changed a bit. They did trim the bezels, but it’s essentially the same super AMOLED 6.7” panel at 1080p FHD+ resolution. The motion rate is 120Hz here. There’s possibly a Gorilla Glass Victus+ for safety. Its brightness is exactly 1200nits HBM.

They’ve optimized the optics. But we don’t see any major hardware changes. Galaxy A57 still has the same 50MP Main f/1.8 camera. A 12MP selfie shooter is used on the screen. And another 12MP outsole can be found under the ultrawide lens. There’s an extra 5MP sensor here for macro shots. Galaxy A57’s starter price is $550 (~PKR 154,000), by the way.

Samsung Galaxy A37

Nothing has really changed with the A37. They did switch the SoC to Exynos 1480. And just to be clear, it’s not a new silicon. It was actually used on the Galaxy A55 first. Still, it’s a 2.75 GHz SoC with Xclipse 530 GPU. And let’s not forget that the phone now has Android 16 One UI 8.5 software.

You won’t get 8GB base RAM on the A37. The phone is still stuck on a 6/128GB starter option that goes all the way up to 12/256GB. Nothing’s different about the design either. It’s still a 7.4mm plastic build at 196 grams. Thick bezels and a non-uniform chin still plague the Galaxy A37. But the phone does have a better IP68 rating.

There’s a 5000mAh battery here and 45W charging. The newcomer will do 60% in 30 minutes or less. Galaxy A37 drops the ultrawide resolution to 8MP. But the rest of its camera gear will match the A57 one-to-one. It even has the same AI perks.

This newcomer is built around a 6.7” super AMOLED of 1080p resolution. 120Hz refresh rate and 1200nits HBM brightness look the same as the A57. But the screen is definitely not as premium. By the way, each device has a screen-laced optical fingerprint ID and 6 years of OS updates. Galaxy A37, of course, is much cheaper. Its base price is only $450 (~PKR 126,000).
