There are usually three phases an update has to go through before it’s officially released to your Galaxy device. An internal test version is made. Then they let specific users test a beta version of said update. A stable update comes later. It appears One UI 9 for the Samsung Galaxy A57 will soon reach the second phase.
We heard that Samsung may have built a test One UI 9 firmware for the Galaxy A57 all the way back in June. The system is based on Android 17, by the way. Fast forward to August 25th, and now we see a One UI beta program section created on Samsung forums for the Galaxy A57.
This info was found by the usual suspect, Mohammed Khatri, on X. The leak can be interpreted as a sign that Samsung is about to unlock One UI 9 beta Android 17 on the latest Samsung A model, but there’s obviously a catch. No one has been able to guess when the beta will go live.
The beta version is currently seen only on the Galaxy S26 series. You’ll have to buy the Galaxy Z Fold 8 duo or Flip 8 if you really want to try the stable One UI 9 Android 17. There are also signs of a One UI 9.5, which will be found out of the box on newer 2027 phones.
But is the update really worth holding your breath for? One UI 9 is far more customizable than the Android 16 build we have right now. There are tons more UI customization options and updated visuals everywhere across the system than in the current One UI 8.5.
Galaxy AI gets more features, like the Call Brief in Call Assist. Now Brief custom cards have come to One UI 9. MyFanCam is an AI software feature, so we see it possibly coming to many other devices that don’t have this tool out of the box. Now there’s a permanent Google search bar on the homescreen as well, which can only be turned off from Home settings. There are many other small changes sprinkled throughout the system.
