Oppo Reno 16 Series Launched with 200MP Camera, Flagship SoC, and Metal Design

The Oppo Reno 16 series apparently has two devices. That is, until they decide to add more to the group. The company debuted both the Reno 16 Pro and the vanilla Reno 16 in China, and a 200MP main camera is found on both of them. In fact, the whole camera assembly is identical. This is everything you need to know.

Oppo Reno 16 Pro

This handset is obviously in the lead, specs and price-wise. Buyers who mostly care about the cameras can go either route, though. Because they have the very same cameras: 200MP main + 50MP periscope telephoto 3.5X. And the recording can be done at 4K 60 FPS.

This setup also has a 50MP (116˚) ultrawide. And you have a handy 50MP selfie snapper at the front as always. The optics don’t leave you much to complain about. But that’s where the similarity ends. Because the Reno 16 Pro is a much bigger 6.78” AMOLED handset. There’s a 120Hz refresh rate. The brightness hits 3600 nits. And it’s also 1.5K resolution.

The battery stores more juice on the Reno 16 Pro. A 7000mAh cell gets paired with 80W charging on this device. You do have wireless 50W charging on the Pro that the other sibling doesn’t have. The performance is also a bit faster on the Pro.

Everything runs on a Dimensity 9500. So it’s safe to say the Reno 16 Pro is technically a flagship. This is a 3nm 3.73 GHz SoC. WiFi 7 is also something that separates the two. The basic Reno 16 doesn't have it. But both phones get the same IP69K build and IR remote with Bluetooth 5.4.

Color OS 16 can be found on either handset, by the way. So you are getting Android 16 to boot. We have tons of AI features here. Dual speakers and a normal screen fingerprint reader are included in essentials. The Reno 16 Pro puts the base price down to $660 (~PKR 183,000) for 12/256GB memory.

Oppo Reno 16

The basic Reno 16 version is a bit smaller since it’s carrying a 6.32” OLED here. But the screen’s specs match the Pro one-to-one. There’s a 120Hz refresh rate with 1.5K resolution. The brightness is 3600nits. Thin bezels and a punch hole can be seen up front for a 50MP selfie shooter.

There’s a Dimensity 8550 Super SoC inside the Reno 16. We put it in the sub-flagship class. But it is still very potent with its 3.4GHz boost clock and Mali G720 MC8. Like we said, they have the same cameras. So Reno 16 also uses the 200MP main + 50MP 3.5X telephoto + 50MP ultrawide lens assortment.

The smaller size does affect the space for the battery. So they had to cut the Reno 16’s cell down to 6700 mAh with the same 80W charging. They also stripped the 50W wireless input from the non-Pro.

They couldn’t use WiFi 7 here. The chipset has its limits. So they chose WiFi 6 for the basic Reno 16, which is good enough for most. There’s an IP69K rating here. An IR blaster is included with all the essentials: dual speakers and a screen fingerprint reader. It defaults to Android 16 Colos OS 16.

By the way, China only opened the pre-orders for it after the launch. The actual sales are beginning on May 29th. This Reno 16 handset has 12GB/256GB memory at the base level, and the price kicks off at $515 (~PKR 143,000). The prices are all converted from the local Chinese MSRP.
