Oppo Reno 14 5G Launches Early in Japan Alongside Budget Reno 13A

Although Oppo promised to launch the global Reno 14 series in July, it seems the Japanese market has received the vanilla Reno 14 5G early (the sales begin next month). The company also unveiled an affordable option alongside it called the “Reno 13A.” Here’s everything you need to know about these newcomers.

Oppo Reno 14 5G

This phone has a 6.6” AMOLED with uniform bezels and a 120Hz refresh rate. Its peak brightness is 1200 nits, and the resolution is 1.5K (2760 by 1256 pixels). The Reno 14 5G is meant to compete in the high-end segment, so it uses Gorilla Glass 7i to protect the screen and provides IP69 water resistance.

Not only does it have the best IP rating, but it also has the best selfie camera. The front-mounted unit is a 50MP autofocus sensor for face portraits and video calls. It can do 4K 60 FPS recording as well. The rear setup has a 50MP OIS Main camera, a 50MP 3X OIS telephoto, and an 8MP ultrawide unit.

Reno 14 5G is built around a Dimensity 8350 chip with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. There’s a 6000mAh battery within this phone, which you can refill with an 80W fast charger. Its fingerprint reader is on top of the screen, and the phone has WiFi 6 built in.

This device only has two colors: Luminous Green and Opal White. The Reno 14 5G starts retailing in Japan on July 17th. Its pricing and storage options will be revealed then. Stay tuned.

Oppo Reno 13A

The Reno 13A seems to be replacing the Reno 11A from 2024. It has a 6.7” AMOLED on the front, 120Hz refresh rate, and 1200 nits HBM brightness. The resolution is capped at FHD+ (1080p) with an AGC Dragontrail STAR 2 glass guarding the panel.

Reno 13A’s fingerprint reader is also built into the screen. The front selfie camera gets a 32MP sensor, and the rear lenses include a 50MP OIS primary unit, an 8MP 120-FOV ultrawide shooter, and a 2MP macro lens. This setup can record 4K 30 FPS videos.

The handset is powered by a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, which means it’s a 4G device and only provides a 2.2GHz clock speed. Still, it runs on Android 15 and gets you a decent UFS 3.1 storage. The hardware on this phone is powered by a 5800mAh battery, which can be refilled with a 45W charger.

Reno 13A is up for pre-orders in Japan, and the price tag seems reasonable at around $330 (~PKR 107,000). This model has three color options: Charcoal Gray, Ice Blue, and Luminous Navy.
