Samsung Galaxy S27 Series to Feature UFS 5.0 Storage on Select Models

We’ve already seen a bunch of leaks on the Galaxy S27 series, and they are only getting more frequent as days go by. A new report was found today, which seems to confirm the storage type for the next series. The S27 lineup is headed for an upgrade. This is what we learned.

The Naver blogger yeux1122 is the one who shared this report today. The source has a solid track record with such predictions, so we don’t really find any reason to discredit the news. According to him, the Galaxy S27 series is being considered for a storage upgrade to UFS 5.0.

There’s a catch. These upgraded storage modules will be limited to select models in the Galaxy S27 series. Perhaps this disparity is based on the hierarchy. We already know that the lineup has a vanilla Samsung new S mobile at the bottom, and there are Galaxy S27+ and S27 Ultra at the top.

A few reports also indicate the presence of a fourth model in the lineup: a Galaxy S27 Pro. But there’s no solid proof that it exists. Anyway, if they did split the UFS 5.0 storage, the Galaxy S27 Ultra will be the one using it. Or it will be found on the Galaxy S27 Pro, on the off chance that this device actually debuts.

It has been a rare inclusion inside products, even though the UFS 5.0 storage was announced in November last year. From what we have gathered, it is a big jump from your usual UFS 4.1 and 4.0 solution. The sequential read and write speeds are doubled here.

UFS 5.0 can take the read speeds all the way up to 10.8 Gbps. The older version could only hit 5.8 Gbps. These sorts of storage speeds could only be supported by a powerful SoC. We hear the Galaxy S27 Ultra is coming with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.

This chipset could level up to a 2nm process node with a theoretical 5GHz clock speed. There are also rumors of a 1” 200MP sensor inside the Galaxy S27 Ultra. So there’s plenty to look forward to. Keep watching the news for more updates.
