ET News in Korea made an important discovery recently about the Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra’s display. They are getting an upgrade. Apparently, industry sources speak of a brighter, more color-accurate M16 OLED panel on these phones. This is everything you need to know.
M16 will bring the S27 Pro and Ultra to the latest generation of OLEDs. Samsung itself makes those displays, so it would be a shame not to put the best available tech on their flagships. That’s at least the case in the upper ranks. The bottom S27 and S27+ will still get an M14 OLED display.
So what exactly does this upgrade mean for you, the consumer? Well, the M16 OLEDs are brighter and even more efficient than the older generation. These screens have a longer lifespan as well. And they apparently have better color reproduction.
We assume those will be the changes on the S27 Pro/Ultra’s spec sheets. Anyway, the tech’s not going to debut on the S27 series anyway. Those devices are coming next year. Samsung Display division is actually going to put the M16 OLED on the iQOO 16.
There are reports on the internet that the current iPhone 18 Pro/Pro Max and iPhone Duo are also using the M16 OLED, but this part definitely needs more sources for verification. By the way, the same report from ET News speaks of the S27 and S27+ OLEDs.
They are upgraded but not to the level of the Pro and Ultra. Galaxy S26 and S26+ had M13 displays. That’s going to be upgraded next year to M14 OLED on the S27 and S27+. This tech debuted ages ago, so its specs aren’t exactly a secret. Expect something close to the iPhone 16 Pro’s screen.
The news went beyond just the bar phones. Foldables get an upgrade too. ET News even predicted a better screen on the Galaxy Z Fold 9 series that might finally move past the older M13 OLEDs. We’ll hopefully hear more on that subject soon. Keep watching the news for more updates.
