Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro Might Dial Back the Camera Setup to Protect S27 Ultra

‌At first, there were high hopes for the Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro that was building up to be a mini version of the S27 Ultra, but the plans may have changed. The phone was blurring the lines between ranks, which is obviously not a good business strategy. They intentionally want to dial back the S27 Pro’s camera, so it doesn’t affect the Ultra’s sales.

Lanzuk broke the news on his Naver blog post. This leaker is rarely wrong about his predictions. He said that the camera setup on the S27 Pro is being reworked and no longer has the same optics as the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra. There’s a clearer disparity now.

It now plays in the wheelhouse of the Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus, and the leaker believes it would be the middle child between the two classes. It will far exceed the basic S27, but won’t be as impressive as the S27 Ultra, at least in photography.

It’s believed that the Samsung latest S model will share some of the optics with the Ultra, but the hardware will mostly match the S27 and S27 Plus. When we first started hearing rumors of the S26 Pro that never launched, enthusiasts were hoping to see a compact phone that would have better hardware than the vanilla model.

That’s exactly how they want to position the S27 Pro now. And this time, the device really exists. The leak doesn’t get into the specifics, though. We still have to rely on former reports to fill the gaps in the spec sheet.

The optics are dialed down, but that doesn’t mean that all hope is lost for the 200MP main camera on the S27 Pro. That is still a possibility, but the sensor they use may be generations old. The Ultra will no longer carry a 3X telephoto on the back, but it will still have the 5X periscope lens.

And it looks like the selfie camera on the Pro and Ultra is getting swapped with a 16MP sensor (up from 12MP), which will be their first selfie camera upgrade in years. There’s a lot more that still needs to be discovered about the S27 Pro. Keep watching the news for more updates.
