Samsung’s next generation of Galaxy A series isn’t coming out until later next year. While production is still months away, the Korean phone maker already has a few Galaxy A phones in the works. One such phone in the pipeline is the Galaxy A23, the sequel to this year’s Samsung Galaxy A22.
GalaxyClub, a Samsung-centric blog, published the very first scoop on the A23. The European publication notes that, based on region, the Samsung Galaxy A23 comes in both LTE and 5G editions.
Rumors circulating the web had suggested that the Korean phone maker is doing away with 4G entirely and revamping the Galaxy A-series with next-gen 5G. But evidently, the lower-end models are sticking to 4G chips, at least for another year.
To ship the Samsung Galaxy new model aka the A22 with 5G, the manufacturer had to cut a lot of corners. What stood out the most was the cheap TFT and SuperAMOLED panels on the A22 5G and A22 4G, respectively. The 8MP ultra-wide shooter was also sacrificed. It wouldn’t be a big surprise if Samsung goes down that route once again.
The report further specifies a 5000 mAh battery inside the Galaxy A23. Unless Samsung is planning an upgrade, the charging speeds on the A23 will be capped at 15W.
Until recently, the 48MP image sensor was Samsung’s go-to for budget phones. But it has quickly been superseded by a newly-announced 50MP sensor. The Galaxy A13 allegedly uses this image sensor too. Plus, Realme and Xiaomi have also introduced the same sensor in their low-end lineups.
