Realme has been dabbling in premium-ish phones with their new-fangled GT series, Realme GT Master Edition also landed in Pakistan last month. But these are marketed as so-called ‘flagship killers,’ not real flagships. That’s about to change soon as Realme gears up to introduce their first premium phone, the Realme GT 2 Pro.

It’s an age-old tale. The journey of a BBK phone company starts as an enthusiast brand. They make one flagship-killer phone a year for an unbeatable price, aimed at a niche market. Once the brand gains traction, it goes more mainstream to the point it starts selling flagship phones made for a global audience. Oppo and OnePlus went down this path. And Realme will soon join them when the Realme GT 2 Pro comes out.

Sky Li, the founder, and CEO of Realme, tweeted that the Realme GT 2 Pro is their first premium flagship phone. Since the marketing campaign just kicked off, the official release of the GT 2 Pro shouldn’t be far off.

Mr. Li didn’t post a preview. But Steve Hemmerstoffer (of SlashLeaks) leaked the press mockups featuring the New GT Realme mobile. The image showcases a unique but familiar design.

Realme GT 2 Pro rocks a one-piece design where the camera flush (sticking out like a visor) holds the lens and LED array. It’s heavily “inspired” by the Nexus 6P. Google Pixel 6 series launched with a similar design recently. Except the edges here are flat and sharp. And the phone comes in mint and ivory shades. At any rate, it’s a different design language from any other phone in Realme’s catalog.

The triple-camera reportedly features 50MP+50MP+8MP sensors. Mr. Hemmerstoffer further notes that Realme has used custom lenses to reduce image artifacts. Since it’s a flagship, only the cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip is the right fit for the GT 2 Pro. Blazing fast 125W Ultra DART charging, 120Hz screen, and UFS 3.1 storage are also specified in the leak.
