OPPO Reno6 Allegedly Clears its 3C Certification; Flagship Chip and Blazing Fast Charging

Oppo has been pushing new Reno releases closer and closer on the calendar ever since the Reno4. The Oppo Reno5 series followed only four months after it. And the subsequent gap continues to shrink. It has scarcely been three months since the Reno5 rolled out, and Oppo already has a successor lined up. Let’s meet the Oppo Reno 6.

The phone first surfaced as an unknown device named “PEPM00” in leaked screenshots. These Oppo Reno6 images contained some system specifications and screen details. It has been a few weeks since then.

3C, a Chinese regulatory body, most recently certified the same phone, revealing more of its specifications in the process. It’s still up for speculation, but industry sources report that the “PEPM00” model number belongs to the Oppo Reno 6.

Firstly, the Reno6 — not unlike its preceding models — has a 5G chip. The leaked screengrabs specify it as the Dimensity 1200 (currently the highest-end 6nm flagship chip on MediaTek’s catalog.) The chipset works with 8GB of memory and 128GB of storage. No word yet on the new Oppo mobile price tag.

It also supports Oppo’s cutting-edge 65W fast charging technology. Rumor has it that, starting with the Reno6, Oppo has plans to introduce 30W wireless charging to their sub-flagship segment. Since the Reno5 phones already offer premium mid-tier hardware, an upgrade such as this puts the Reno6 line in the flagship territory.

The design changes between the Reno5 and Reno4 generations were minimal, so you can expect similarly marginal revisions for the Reno6. Based on the leak we previously touched on, the new screen is OLED, refreshes at a smooth 90Hz, and has a hole cutout in the corner.
