Oppo Find X10 series debuted in China. The next big milestone for them is the Reno 17 series launch, which is reportedly a month away. Digital Chat Station has already found most of the specs for the Oppo Reno 17 Pro. This is everything we learned from the leaker’s Weibo post.
Oppo Reno 17 Pro is a compact version, apparently. That’s true at least for the Chinese verison, based on the origin of today’s leak. This wasn’t the case with the Chinese 6.78” Reno 16 Pro. They keep going back and forth on the size variation. Who knows, the global Reno 17 Pro might be the standard size.
Anyway, on the Reno 17 Pro, we’ll probably get a 6.32” AMOLED at 1.5K resolution. The refresh rate would be 120Hz, nothing new there. And the front camera is reported to carry a 50MP sensor, same as last year’s model. There are barely any upgrades upfront.
The chipset could be demoted to a lower class. D8550s chip was found on the older global Reno 16 Pro, and the Chinese counterpart got the D9500s. Reno 17 Pro is being reported to carry the Dimensity 8550 Super SoC yet again. Again, not sure if the leaker’s talking about the global version or the Chinese trim. If Oppo is your preferred brand, browse the Oppo Mobile Price page for current pricing details.
Reno phones refresh every six months, so it’s unfair to critique the new Reno 17 for having no unique upgrades. Once again, the camera setup has a 200MP main unit with OIS and PDAF. That’s already good enough.
The other two cameras probably continue with a 50MP ultrawide sensor and a 50MP periscope telephoto unit. They might do something different with the camera software, though, so the output isn’t as boring. There will be new features for Live Photos and video editing.
The battery size might be pushed to the 7000mAh range, give or take a few hundred milliamps. The source didn’t really tip the exact figure. Again, this is old news for the Chinese verison, which already had the exact battery, but it would be a huge upgrade for the global and European Reno 17 Pros that are coming from 6700mAh and 6000mAh versions. Keep watching the news for more updates.
