Xiaomi Redmi 15 Launch Spree Heats Up; Asian Rollout Continues

Redmi 15 officially launched in Malaysia at the start of August, and now, it’s expanding to more regions. This newcomer has made it to another Asian country. It brings a colossal battery and a newer chip, all at an entry-level price point. Here’s everything you need to know about this handset.

Redmi 15 is the first model in line with a 144Hz refresh rate. It carries a huge 6.9” IPS display at 1080p resolution and 850 nits of brightness. Those bezels are fairly symmetrical (except the chin), and a small punch hole cutout hides an 8MP selfie camera on the Redmi 15.

The chamfered design is back after many years, and it looks stunning in Midnight Black, Sandy Purple, and Frosted White. The phone is 8.4mm thick, which is to be expected as it hosts a 7000mAh battery inside. Once you recharge the cell using its 33W fast charger, the Redmi 15 will easily last you two days on light usage.

A Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 runs the Hyper OS 2.0 firmware on Xiaomi's 5G new mobile. The chip allows it to connect with 5G networks. The platform is based on 8 cores and a peak clock speed of 2.3GHz. And yes, it maintains the same 6nm architecture as the original full-fledged SD 6 Gen 3 version.

The camera situation, however, is far from ideal. You only get a single functioning lens here with a 50MP sensor. The other two lenses are just for show. The front camera is 8MP, which is common at this price, and each outsole can take HDR pictures or record 1080p 30FPS videos.

There is no 3.5mm audio jack on this handset, probably due to its water and dustproof design. Redmi 15 is rated IP64, which usually keeps the phone safe from minor splashes. Still, you get an SD card slot, a single speaker, and an Infrared ID at the top to control electronic appliances at home.

The fingerprint reader is mounted on the side, since it doesn’t have an AMOLED. You get Android 15 right off the bat, dual-band WiFi, and an older Bluetooth 5.1 standard. Redmi 15 is priced at roughly $170 (~PKR 48,000) for the 6/128GB memory trim, and the same price is expected in other regions as it expands the launch.
