Xiaomi Poco F9 Pro and F9 Ultra have both debuted today with the exact designs we saw in leaks. They have speakers tuned by Bose, which is the signature feature of the F9 series. And yes, these are flagship handsets with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This is everything we know.
Each model has a flagship SoC. They’ve put a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 on both the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra, but there’s one GPU core missing on the Pro. Apparently, the 8 Elite Gen 5 has a separate tier called the V series (SM8850-1-AB), and those chips have weaker Adreno 840 GPUs due to a missing core.
The Xiaomi new Poco model can be bought in the 16GB and 1TB trim, but the best option you’ll get with the F9 Pro is 12/512GB, which is still flagship. They do have AMOLED screens and premium 1.5K resolution. Both score 185Hz refresh rate, by the way.
The Ultra and Pro are both rated for 4500nits brightness (peak). The specs match, but not the sizes. Poco F9 Pro is built around a 6.6” screen. And the F9 Ultra puts a 6.9” AMOLED up front. Each sibling has a hole cutout where the company has put a 32MP selfie shooter.
The cameras are somewhat watered down on the Poco F9 Pro, but they do have the same 200MP main camera of 1/1.56” size. The Pro adds a second 50MP 2.5X telephoto and an 8MP Ultrawide. The Ultra, on the other hand, grabs a 50MP 5X periscope telephoto shooter and a 50MP Ultrawide.
They also have the same charging speeds: 100W wired and 50W wireless. Though a bigger size favors the F9 Ultra with a larger 8,050mAh Si/C battery. The F9 Pro’s frame only leaves enough room for a 6330mAh cell. At least they share the IP68 waterproof rating.
The built-in default OS from the factory is Android 16 Hyper OS 3. They are locked in for 4 years of OS updates. Of course, they have ultrasonic fingerprint readers and WiFi 7. The Ultra has a subwoofer on the back for better sound. The cheaper Poco F9 Pro is $699 (~PKR 193,000). The starter price shoots up to $799 (~PKR 221,000) for the Poco F9 Ultra.
