Xiaomi 18 Fold is racing to the finish line. They intend to reveal the handset in early September, so we’ll see it in a few days. It’s being promoted right now. And we are seeing new teasers pop up on a daily basis. Xiaomi already confirmed the onboard XRING O3 chip with LPDDR6 memory. Its battery and charging specs turned up in a leak.
This is a leak from Panda is Bald on Weibo, whose track record doesn’t leave much room for doubt. The leaker wrote in the post that this wide-format Xiaomi 18 Fold has a 6000mAh battery and the same XRING O3 chip they announced on August 24th.
That chip is a home-brewed silicon from Xiaomi, and it has 10 cores, apparently. Going back to the topic at hand, the leaker has predicted 67W fast charging on the device (wired input). This is a decked-out power setup for a foldable. Keep in mind that the Xiaomi 18 Fold is supposed to directly match the Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Samsung only put a 4880mAh power pack on their model. Xiaomi has a 20% bigger power source on their new foldable.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 can only plug into a 45W wired charging kit, and its wireless input has a 20W ceiling. Xiaomi 18 Fold is a lot faster on both at 67W and 50W. They not only have the charging and battery numbers to flex, but Xiaomi 18 Fold is also the world’s first with LPDDR6 memory, which will give them bragging rights.
There are reports that the Xiaomi 18 Fold is actually a 7.6” foldable OLED device, which is based on the new Android 17 build. We saw some Hyper OS 4 images featured on the same wide foldable, so that might be its home UI. Of course, there’s going to be a side fingerprint reader.
We have already seen the phone’s design in live images in the burgundy red color. They rounded the corners, and the cameras are put in a horizontal stack this time, possibly led by a 200MP main sensor. Keep watching the news for more updates.
