Xiaomi Redmi 15A 5G Unveiled with Unisoc T8300 Chip and Massive 6300mAh Battery

It’s a mid-year lineup refresh. Xiaomi Redmi 15A has arrived seven months after the original Redmi 15 4G (released in August 2025). It’s an OS and design refresh with a downgraded screen. They got rid of the punch hole. The phone is actually a rebranded Poco C85x on the inside. The only thing Xiaomi changed is the camera deco and colors.

They’ve made Redmi 15A official in India before launching it in any other regions. It’s a 5G device, by the way. There’s a Unisoc chip here, but not the one you would expect, vis-à-vis T7250. It’s one of their higher-quality silicon: Unisoc T8300 (6nm). It will trade blows with a Helio G100.

The absolute basic Redmi 15A trim has 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. But you can upgrade it all the way up to 8GB and 128GB. The performance is on point for what the phone costs. But the newcomer lacks panache in the display department. The screen is of lower quality than the original Redmi 15.

This all-new Redmi 15A 5G is built around a 6.9” IPS LCD, which has the same HD+ 720p resolution. But the refresh rate has gone down from 144Hz to 120Hz. When Xiaomi puts ‘A’ in the label, that usually means a weaker/cheaper version. And that’s exactly where the Redmi 15A is positioned. In this article, you can check the latest Xiaomi mobile price and smartphone updates.

It’s an OS upgrade as well. Redmi 15A is built around Android 16 x Hyper OS 3. Apparently, they’ve committed to at least four years of OS updates and 6 years of patches. We don’t usually see that sort of upgrade path on Chinese budget phones.

Everything runs on a 6300mAh battery inside the Redmi 15A. It lasts long, but the charging won’t be snappy. The battery is only wired to a slow 15W charging kit. The body is sealed tight and passes the IP52 splashproof rating. Its 3.5mm audio jack could be the reason for this low IP rating.

Anyway, the main lens on the camera deco is a 32MP shooter. They’ve linked it to an 8MP selfie shooter on the front, and each side can do 1080p@30fps videos. The fingerprint reader is on the side. There’s also dual-band WiFi here with dual SIM support. Redmi 15A 5G sits at the base cost of $137 (~PKR 38,000).
