Yes, they’ve been racing to deploy the 4G and 5G versions of the Redmi 17 across the global market. But they aren’t the cheapest devices in the series. That title actually goes to the Xiaomi Redmi 17C 5G, at least until we hear about its 4G version. Anyway, this phone was seen on a premature retail listing where it spilled all its secrets before the company even had a chance to release it.

The listing was actually made in Luxembourg, so the phone is a European/global model. It’s good to know that Redmi 17C 5G is not locked down to the home market. Anyway, the listing had a bunch of renders. We have all three of its colors on preview.
This is a Redmi C version, so the specs aren’t as heavy as the vanilla version. They only gave Xiaomi latest Redmi mobile 4GB of physical RAM. The storage is capped at 128GB. The RAM will probably kneecap the performance of its Dimensity 6300 SoC, and multitasking won’t be its strong suit either at the 4GB hard limit.

Redmi 17C 5G will end up with Android 16, not 17. The store listed it with Hyper OS 3. There’s an SD card slot here. 1TB extra storage is supported. 6000mAh battery is used on the phone, which is the new average for most Androids. But the charging wasn’t listed anywhere.
We did learn that this newcomer is built around a 6.9” IPS LCD that has HD+ 720p resolution only. It will use a 120Hz refresh rate, and it will probably be bright enough for outdoors. There’s a notch on this screen, not a punch hole. You’ll see an 8MP camera there.

The rear main camera is obviously better with a 50MP sensor at f/1.8 on the Redmi 17C. It’s the same setup they used on the last 15C 5G. We also found out on the listing that it has a side fingerprint reader and a barrel 3.5mm Audio jack.
WiFi 5GHz is present on this handset. Bluetooth is version 5.4. The colors you see on the Redmi 17C 5G, the unique ones: Brown and Purple. Black is a more muted, discreet tone. We can’t tell if they will release the phone anytime soon. You’ll have to wait for a future post for confirmation. Keep watching the news.
