Redmi Note 17 Pro is alternatively called Xiaomi Poco X8 in the global market. Poco will have that device rebranded under its own badge and ship it outside China. We do have proof to back this claim. The Xiaomi Poco X8 just got certified by NBTC and IMDA, and these are the details we found on each platform.
Both platforms confirm the model number assigned to the Poco X8. It’s supposed to carry “2607DPC18G” with the letter G at the end for “global” and “PC” in the middle, which is the actual signage for Poco. The certifications tell us where exactly this phone is going to launch.
Well, IMDA is a Singaporean Authority, so if the phone got certified by them, that’s one of the markets where the Xiaomi latest X mobile will wash up. And then there’s the NBTC certification, which can be considered a sign of an official launch in Thailand, though the vanilla X8 is intended for the global market.
It’s a 5G device as well. Both IMDA and NBTC attested to it in their certification files. But they didn’t spill anything besides these two details. We had to do a little digging, and it turns out the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Poco X8 share the exact same model numbers (2607DRA18G vs. 2607DPC18G), and so they might share some specs as well.
It’s possible that the Poco X8 will grab a 6.83” OLED. There’s a 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The screen might even hit 3200nits peak brightness if these two phones are indeed the same. They might put a 9000mAh battery on this newcomer with 67W charging.
The chip is pretty mediocre on the Redmi Note 17 Pro, so don’t get your hopes up for the Poco X8. They might have the very same Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. There’s LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. They might change the color, but the design template won’t change.
It might even have the same IP69K rating the other device had. Expect just a single 50MP main camera on the back. The selfie camera will be 8MP. Dual speakers and a screen fingerprint reader are also coming to the Poco X8. The series will start from the Poco X8 Power, though. The teasers are already out for this newcomer. The next step is an official launch, either by the end of July or early August.
