Vivo Y21 is a recently announced budget Vivo phone featuring a trendy, lightweight design and a fast-charging battery. The sequel to the last year’s Vivo mobile Y20 has landed in several Asian markets, and its next stop is Pakistan. Official sources say the phone launches in three days. But some retailers already have the phone in stock.

Budget phones have never been Vivo’s forte. And the latest Y21 carries on this trend. What it lacks in value, the phone somewhat makes up for it thanks to its modern, sleek design. Vivo Y21 rocks an 8mm thick flat edge chassis, holding the 2.5D shell. The whole body weighs only 182g.

The frosted AG finish on the backplate comes in the brilliantly textured Diamond Glow and the elegant-but-generic Midnight Blue. Vivo Y21’s power button doubles as the thumbprint scanner. Plus, you can use the Face Wake feature for biometric security too.

The screen is where the Y21 starts lagging behind the competition. Vivo's new phone model has a 6.51” IPS LCD that peaks at only 720P resolution. You will find no high refresh or touch sampling rates here. The thick bezel surrounding the display limits its screen-to-body ratio to 89%. But Vivo has built a blue light filter into the panel to protect your eyes.

Inside the Vivo Y21, the 5000 mAh battery delivers all-day battery life. Software tweaks preserve battery life. And when you’re running low, the 18W charging support quickly brings it back to capacity. The MediaTek Helio P35 chipset powering the phone is already three years old. It’s paired with 4GB of memory and 64GB of internal storage.

The camera system is nothing to write home about either. It’s an array of 13MP wide, 2MP macro, and 8MP front cameras. Vivo Y21’s engine isn’t powerful enough to run a night mode, limiting the imaging modes to AI bokeh, SuperHDR, and beauty filters. Sources put its starting price at PKR 27,999.
