Vivo Y21’s Getting a 2026 Rehash; Battery, Durability, and Support Duration Confirmed

Vivo Y21 was originally a 2021 handset, but the company might rehash it in 2026. And just to be extra clear, the Y21 will be reborn as a 5G device. It may seem odd behavior, but Vivo is known for pulling stunts like this. The rehash has been confirmed through certifications, so there’s no stopping it.

The so-called Vivo Y21 5G got itself listed on the EU Energy certification as model V2553. We saw that number on the SIRIM database, where it was actually addressed as Y21 5G. Apparently, there’s another model number for the same phone, V2554. And that one could be for another market, which has stricter regulations on batteries.

Both models, which apparently use the same product title (Y21 5G) but are headed to different regions, were seen on the EPREL database today. We learned that one of the newcomers has a true 6,355 mAh capacity. That kind of size usually gets rounded off to a 6,500 mAh (typical) battery. Here are the latest updates on smartphones, including Vivo price list for February 2026.

The other Y21 5G model that’s supposed to launch outside the Malaysian market (SIRM’s territory) has a 5,090 mAh battery. And they could debut it as a 5,250 mAh cell. There are obviously different endurance figures for these handsets.

One lasted 67 hours 13 minutes in their test, and the other only ran for 52 hours 36 minutes. But both devices are supposed to recharge their batteries at a 45W input. Y21 5G’s EPREL filing has also pulled the curtain on its durability. This is an IP65-rated handset.

The newcomer apparently has an A label for drop safety. But the repairability scores are C-ranked. There are at least 5 years of software updates planned for the Vivo Y21 5G rehash. And the 1600 cycles are enough to last the entire time and still retain 80% health.

This certification may not have exposed the hardware, but you can bet it’s better than the original Y21’s Helio P35 and 5000mAh battery combo. It had no IP rating either. And it had no high refresh rate. So the rehash will be miles better. Keep watching the news for updates.
