Samsung Galaxy Note 20 & Note 20 Ultra Receive April 2025 Security Update in Pakistan

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra were released back in 2020 with Android 10 out of the box. They received three major OS updates down the line, and the last version we saw on this device was Android 13 x One UI 5.1. Even though their OS support has ended, they are still eligible for security updates. Both phones now welcome a new update with the April 2025 patch.

It has been a few days since the update started rolling out across Europe and Asia. Today, the update has also arrived in Pakistan, and if you own a Galaxy Note 20 device, you might want to check the Software Update section in the Settings. Samsung’s official log for the update confirms that it improves the phone’s security.

The new firmware builds are easy to spot. In Pakistan, all the firmware codes end with “HYD1” both for Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra. It’s also a small package to download at ~255 MB, so the update will only take a few minutes to install. Make sure to read the changelog before committing to it.

The April 2025 update for the new Samsung Note mobile is said to include up to 56 security patches: 42 of them come from Google and the rest come from Samsung itself. There are also five new fixes for the core Android system seemingly marked critical by the brand. So, it’s recommended you download the update as soon as possible.

If we talk about Samsung-specific issues, this update deals with loopholes that might be exploited from within apps like Sticker Center, clipboard, HDCP, Samsung Contacts, wireless download protocol for Galaxy Watches, input manager, and the Bluetooth pairing process.

As always, you can install the new update from the Settings >> Software Updates menu. Press the “Download & Install” and let the process complete. After a quick reboot, the phone will welcome you to a more secure firmware. It’s impressive how even after five long years, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and Note 20 still receive security updates.

Even though they are stuck at Android 13 x One 5.1, the phones haven’t reached the end of the line, as they continue to get support from Samsung. Sadly, these models were only promised 5 years of software support, which means the update cycle will end by August. This might be the right time for an upgrade to a better device.
