The Reno 15 series came out in China just three days ago. The next stop is obviously the global market. We hear the international Reno 15 model may have completely varying specs. Some changes make the phone better than the Chinese counterpart, while others might leave fans confused.
The source behind this specs leak has pegged the series’ global launch in February. So there’s plenty of time for the company to manufacture Oppo Reno 15 from scratch. That’s only possible if the timeline is correct. We have to wait for more sources to verify this news, just to be sure.
Anyway, the specs mentioned in this leak are way different than the original Reno 15. In China, this newcomer has a 6200mAh battery and a 200MP main camera. Its chipset is Dimensity 8450, which is at the same level as the Reno 15 Pro. Usually, these siblings are set apart by their performance, but that wasn’t the case this time.
The Chinese Oppo new Reno model also has a compact 6.32” screen. These two siblings are really hard to tell apart, if not for the size difference. Their spec sheets are too similar. Apparently, Oppo might be considering this a mistake and wants to correct it in the global market.
The global Reno 15 is a 6.59” non-compact OLED phone, and its resolution is 1.5K with 120Hz. They’ll swap out that Dimensity 8450 chip for the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, which is a much weaker chip in all metrics. That will bring back the performance disparity between vanilla and Pro siblings.
The 200MP camera doesn’t exist on the Reno 15 (global). Oppo fell back to its old triple lens setup: 50MP main + 50MP 3.5X telephoto + Ultrawide (unknown). There will also be a 50MP selfie on the front. At least its front shooter is the same both inside and outside China.
There is a silver lining, though. The leak also says that the Reno 15’s battery is 6500mAh globally, bigger than the Chinese variant. It’s sticking to the original 80W wired charging, by the way. You’ll see more stories like this in the future as we get closer to Reno 15’s global launch. Keep watching the news for updates.
