Huawei P50 Series All Set to Arrive by March End; New Leak Uncovers the Upcoming models and Chipset Details

Leaks surrounding the Huawei P50 series have been few and far between. Meanwhile, rumor has it that Huawei has plans to sell off both its Mate and P flagship series. But we might be in for a surprise, according to a phone leaker who shared the alleged launch timeline for the upcoming P-series generation.

Our source is the leaker Teme (Twitter handle, @RODENT950), who has a prolific track record for Huawei-related leaks. Based on their tweets, the Huawei P50 Pro along with the other two siblings is launching around March 26-28. The 27th and 28th fall on the weekend, so March 26 is the most likely launch date.

Huawei has finalized the design. The P50 series is ready for mass production, and it comes in three editions: Huawei P50, Huawei P50 Pro, and Huawei P50 Pro+.

The leaker also posted the alleged chipsets for these three phones. Much like the naming, Huawei is sticking to the configuration it adopted for the Mate 40 series. For our readers out of the loop, the Mate 40 series runs on two mobile platforms: Kirin 9000 5G and Kirin 9000E 5G. Both kinds are in short supply because Huawei only has a limited stockpile of these chips.

The standard Huawei P50 has the lesser Kirin 9000E, while the top-end flagship chip is reserved for the P50 Pro and Pro+ models. According to a recent leak, Oppo is switching to a similar “base edition becoming the Lite variant” configuration for the Find X3 series.

The P in the series name might as well stand for photography since Huawei uses it as a launchpad for its optics innovations. Teme notes that the P50 has a “new ultra sensing camera system.” Reportedly, Huawei and Leica have co-engineered a liquid lens for the Huawei P50 series. If those rumors pan out, it would be a game-changing leap for smartphone cameras.
