Tecno’s latest Camon 18 series isn’t officially set for launch until November 29. But the Tecno Camon 18T edition is already available nationwide. And the Camon 18P just hit brick-and-mortar stores a day before its formal release.

Although not the most premium in the Camon 18 series, the Camon 18P still falls on the higher end. The Camon 18 series is Tecno’s attempt to compete with the big names in the industry. And to break out of the budget-only niche that they had carved for themselves, Tecno went back to the drawing board for the Tecno Camon 18P. We’re looking at a fresh new design language, powerful cameras, and even an impressive new display.

The Camon 18 (like its predecessors) is a camera phone first. Its lens cluster features 48MP wide, 2MP depth-mapper, and 13MP 50mm portrait cameras.

The primary camera shoots in night and portrait modes on both photo and video, carrying an affordable Tecno mobile price tag. The 50mm camera takes distortion-free, natural portraits and provides 30x hybrid zoom. Plus, a dedicated new ‘Film Master’ mode lets you capture 4K video in multiple styles. Lastly, a 16MP front camera rounds off the camera system.

The selfie camera lives in a 6.8” hole-punched screen. It’s a 1080P panel that peaks at 120Hz in refresh rate and 500 nits in brightness. Flip the Tecno Camon 18P over to reveal its accented back. The flat-edge chassis is a trendy, modern look. And the Iris Purple, Dusk Gray, and Ceramic White finishes are elegant.

Everything runs on the MediaTek Helio G96 chip — the most high-performance 4G platform from the chipmaker. 128GB of storage and 8GB of multitasking memory are offered here. It’s all powered by a long-lasting 5000 mAh battery and 33W charging. The latest HiOS 8 is clean and minimalist. The Camon 18P starts from RS. 34,000.
