The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE is already in the works, and it’s rumored to come out in late 2025. Reports suggest that the phone has been assigned a codename R13 with the model number “SM-S731B.” Until now, we have known little about this newcomer, but GalaxyClub has now exposed its SoC details and support for the latest Android 16 x One UI 8.0.
This is supposed to be the most affordable device from the S25 family, and Samsung will be cutting some corners to make that happen. The standard Galaxy S25 trio has a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, which makes those devices the fastest Android models on the market. But, the S25 FE will be a notch below in terms of performance.
The SoC details confirmed by GalaxyClub are a bit disappointing. It seems the Galaxy S25 FE might stick with the same Exynos 2400e chipset as last year’s Galaxy S24 FE. That means no performance bump of any kind is expected from the Fan Edition this year.
Granted that this chip has a flagship-tier performance, but it doesn’t really stack up against the Snapdragon 8 Elite used by the rest of the S25 family. This is a 4nm deca-core platform with a turbo frequency of 3.11 GHz, and the GPU built into this chip is an Xclipse 940. The performance gap may be reflected in the Samsung price list, positioning this variant as a cost-effective alternative.
Seeing that Samsung has been unable to hit the production goals with the Exynos 2500 this year, it’s no surprise that the company is sticking with the Exynos 2400e for its Fan-Edition devices. The S25 FE will be joined by Galaxy Z Flip FE, which is also claimed to have the same Exynos chip.
For what it’s worth, the Galaxy S25 FE should bring the latest Android 16 and the updated One UI 8, according to the GalaxyClub’s report. This handset is likely coming in Q3 or Q4, possibly in September or October, following the usual timeline.
Since the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are launching ahead of S25 FE with Android 16 One UI 8, it’s possible that the Fan Edition may bring the same operating system. Still, the reused Exynos 2400e will become a point of contention for the Galaxy S25 FE. We’ll keep an eye out for more updates on the topic. Stick around if you don’t want to miss out.
