Samsung debuted one more device today besides the Galaxy A18 4G. It’s the Samsung Galaxy A08, with the same chipset and design as last year’s model, but it is now the cheapest handset on the market, with Android 17 onboard. The 4G version also has a bigger battery this time.
It was seen in the UAE market at first. Samsung has made an official product page for it in Serbia. Their local site in Bosnia was also updated today with the Galaxy A08’s product page, where they showed each and every specification. There was just one exception, which is the chipset.
They hid the name of the chipset, but we assume it’s a Helio G99 with eight cores and a 2.2GHz boost speed. The phone’s actually built around Android 17 One UI 9 and, apparently, the Samsung latest A model is also locked in for six major OS updates and at least 6 years of security.
The A07 5G debuted with a 6000mAh battery last year, and it was the only device in the A series to do that. The A07 4G didn’t get the same treatment. There’s some good news for you. Now, even the Galaxy A08 4G has a 6000mAh battery.
The extra 1000mAh will make charging a bit slower, though. The supported charger is still capped at 25W. Again, the frame and display are pretty much identical to last year’s A07. The newcomer has PLS LCD. It’s a 6.7” screen, and the resolution is 720p HD+.
The refresh rate is still 90Hz. And there’s still no official brightness figure on any of those sites. The notch is still there, as intrusive as ever. It has an 8MP selfie camera. The back setup has nothing but a main 50MP f/1.8 camera with autofocus and no OIS.
The base storage is 64GB, by the way. And you only get 4GB of RAM with it. There’s a fingerprint ID on the side in “Key Island”. There’s no stereo output. But the phone does have an SD card slot and a 3.5mm Audio jack. Galaxy A08 4G’s base price over in the UAE is close to $170 (~PKR 47,000).
