Samsung Galaxy A42 Featured in New Renders, Coming Soon with Quad Cameras and a Water-drop Notch

Samsung recently announced its cheapest 5G phone yet, the Samsung Galaxy A42. The smartphone-maker has already published a teaser, so its launch should not be far off. Ahead of this expected launch, the A42 5G has been featured in what appears to be marketing mockups — giving us a preview of what the new phone looks like.

The Samsung Galaxy A42 design doesn’t get visual overhaul but it does have more polish to it. The back seems to be plastic once again (and given that Samsung is going back to releasing even flagships with polycarbonate frames, it won’t be a stretch to imagine), painted in a layered gradient design with Samsung’s ‘holographic’ finish to round it off. It comes in charcoal and an eye-catching white edition.

The addition of an extra lens makes for a quad-camera setup — housed inside an unimaginative squarish bump. The bezels on the front have been trimmed further but the drop-shaped notch carved into the screen remains unchanged. There’s no fingerprint scanner to be found anywhere, suggesting that Samsung is sticking to the under-display alternative for the A42.

Qualcomm introduced their newest Snapdragon 750G processor designed with a focus on HDR gaming and 5G. The chipset will power the upcoming mid-range Galaxy A42 that will also assure an affordable Samsung mobile price. moreover, the handset will presumably be featuring at least 4GB of memory. Geekbench has already tested the phone and their listing reveals a raw performance leap over the Galaxy A41 and its MediaTek Helio P65.

The display is rumored to have grown from the compact 6.1” to 6.6”. It’s still an AMOLED panel reaching an FHD+ resolution. The main camera might be upgraded from last generation’s 48MP sensor to a higher-res 64MP lens as well.

Instead of the underwhelming 3,500 mAh battery and 15W fast charging, the A42 will run on a 5,000 mAh cell that charges over 18W. No pricing or availability details have been shared so far but we’ll keep you posted once Samsung kicks off the promo campaign for the Galaxy A42.
