Realme Neo 7 has a successor on the way. The company is working on a Realme Neo 8 phone that could use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip. Of course, it’s part of a bigger series that also includes Neo 8x and Neo 8 Turbo. Those phones are still a mystery, though. SmartPikachu has already exposed a few secrets about the vanilla Realme Neo 8. Here’s what you should know.

There’s a metal build coming to the Realme Neo 8. The older device also had a metal construction, so it’s pretty much expected. Also, the leaker has claimed the battery will be in the 8K+ range. 8000mAh batteries are uncommon, but Realme knows how to push the envelope. So, this claim also sounds legit.
Smart Pikachu disagrees with one rumor, though. He said in the leak that the rumored chip is not quite right. He’s referring to DCS’s post saying a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is coming to the Neo 8. Both theories have some merit. This is, after all, a semi-flagship phone and worthy of such a chipset.

But, on the other hand, Realme Neo 7 brought a Dimensity 9300+ SoC. It’s possible that Realme's new 5G handset also has a subsequent Dimensity chip. We’ll dig around for more information on that front. Another fact reported by the Weibo leaker: Realme Neo 8 will have an Ultrasonic fingerprint.

Optical fingerprint sensors, like the one Realme Neo 7 uses, are slow. Yes, they’ve come a long way, and they are much snappier. But they still blast you with a bright light when unlocking the screen in the dark. Ultrasonic fingerprint scanners are much more reliable.
If all these specs are correct, Realme Neo 8 is aiming for the flagship status here. One of the recent leaks claimed that this phone may have a Samsung 6.78” OLED screen with LTPS tech and 1.5K resolution. Realme’s Neo segment split from the GT series to carve its own niche as an affordable gaming lineup. Cameras won’t be the main priority here.
