Realme 8 5G is Officially Unveiling Next Week with Dimensity 700; Seemingly a Renamed Realme V13 5G

Realme is gearing up to roll out the Realme V13 5G, unveiled in China last month, to the global market. The international debut begins in Thailand, where the phone is coming on April 21 as a rebranded Realme 8 edition. The company has already made the announcement, and the promo campaign for the Realme 8 5G is well underway.

Realme 8 5G takes many design cues from the Realme 8 4G, except it lacks the giant ‘Dare to Leap’ branding on its back, accented with an iridescent chrome strip. Not only does the Realme 8 5G share its design with the V13 5G but, from benchmarks and certification documents, the two phones also have identical specifications.

We start with the chipset at Realme 8 5G’s heart, the Dimensity 700. This 7nm platform is currently the most entry-level 5G chip in MediaTek’s catalog. The phone boots to Realme UI 2.0, based on Android 11. 8GB of memory does the multitasking, and you can pick from 128GB/256GB storage options — expandable via a dedicated microSD card slot.

The realme new model 2021 is all powered by a 5000 mAh battery that can fast-charge itself over 18W. Naturally, the USB standard is Type-C; there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-facing thumbprint reader, and reported support for NFC (a feature that Realme V13 5G lacks.)

There won't be a 5G variant for the Realme 8 Pro but the standard edition of 8 5G is offered in at least one holographic gray shade. A blue variant is also in the cards.

Even though the front of the phone hasn’t been revealed in the promos, the Realme 8 5G features a 6.5” IPS LCD, capable of producing a full HD resolution at a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. It has a hole-punch cutout for the 8MP front camera. The rear camera on the back uses a 48MP lens and two 2MP portrait and macro sensors.
