The first teasers for the basic Realme 16 have appeared. The company had already launched the Realme 16 Pro and Pro+, and now it’s the Realme 16’s turn for a debut. As soon as the teasers started to appear in Vietnam, a local retailer also published a listing for the vanilla 16 with all its specs on full display.
You can see that the design here does not resemble the Realme 16 Pro at all. Realme 16 took a different route and decided to take on the Google Pixel look, with a horizontal camera bar. That’s not even the most curious thing about its design, though.
You can see the glossy surface in those renders right next to the cameras. They call it a rear selfie mirror. It’s small, but the purpose is so obvious. We are surprised that the companies have never tried it before.
Everyone who owns a smartphone knows that the rear camera is always better at taking photos. And most have tried taking selfies with the rear sensors. But it has always been guesswork when there’s no rear display on the phone. Realme's new 5G model fixed that with just a simple trick. Just put a wide-view mirror on the back for facial alignment with the cameras.
And about this premature retailer listing in Vietnam, we have found that the main camera is 50MP with a 2MP depth mapper on the Realme 16. There’s also an Android 16 (Realme UI 7) on it, which is presumed to run on a Dimensity 6400 Turbo.
At least 8GB RAM and 256GB storage will be available. They have decided to go with a 7000mAh battery on the Realme 16. And this will plug into a 60W charger. The company will not compromise on the durability either. The retailer has mentioned all the ratings up to IP69K.
Realme 16’s display is a medium size, though. We hear that it’s a 6.57” AMOLED that has a 120Hz refresh rate on a (1080p) FHD+ resolution. There’s going to be 4500 nits local peak brightness here. Of course, you get a screen-laced fingerprint with it. The retailer says it will be out by 2nd February. We are sure Realme will confirm that date soon. Keep watching the news.
