Samsung Galaxy A18 4G Starts Receiving its First Software Update Globally

The very first phones from their next Galaxy A lineup have already debuted. We are talking about the Galaxy A08 and Galaxy A18 4G. Right on time, the Samsung Galaxy A18 has already received its first security update only one month into its official release. October 2026 patch is out in Asia.

This update is meant for the LTE version of the Galaxy A18. They haven’t really made the 5G version official, anyway, so this goes without saying. SM-A185G is the 4G trim located in Thailand, and it’s the first version to bag this new security update.

The OTA package with the October 2026 patch can be recognized by the serial number A185GXXS1AZJ1. We assume the phone is coming to Pakistan soon enough. This new patch update will be waiting for us at first boot by then. So you might as well get familiar with it early on. Before choosing your next device, compare Samsung's smartphone options using the Samsung Price Catalog.

From what we’ve learned about it, the October security update is here to fix 62 weak points in the current firmware that’s installed on the A18 by default. Of course, a big chunk of these fixes (CVEs) are from Google itself, and Samsung has also packaged some SVEs into the update.

There are at least 9 critical security fixes in the update, so you don’t want to pass up the October patch. The changelog would tell you more. The update has been served to an Asian market right off the bat. So Samsung won’t take long to deploy the October patch to the rest of the continent.

You can always track if the update is accessible on your phone from Settings >> Software Updates >> Check for Updates. This will check the local servers. Then you’ll be prompted to a Changelog/Download and Install page if they have unlocked the October patch in the region. That’s your ticket to the more secure One UI firmware. Keep watching the news for more updates.
