Oppo has unveiled a new phone in China, part of the Reno 16 lineup. It’s made for the fashionable crowd. Design is central to its appeal, though it does have upper-midrange specs and a Dimensity 8 series chip, so it also suits power users. The phone’s official name is Oppo Reno 16t, and this is everything you need to know about it.
This is a compact handset by design, and its screen is a small 6.32” AMOLED. It’s actually made of a Flexible AMOLED, so the bezels are narrow and uniform. The phone’s resolution is the usual 1.5K. And the brightness is 1800nits (peak). Of course, the Reno 16t also has a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling.
There’s a new chip on the device you may have never heard of. Apparently, the SoC is called Dimensity 8550 Super (4nm). It has a 3.4GHz CPU and Mali-G720 MP8 GPU. The best you can get out of the Reno 16t is 16GB RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage.
They stuffed a 6700mAh cell inside the Oppo Reno latest model, which is the same size as the vanilla Reno 16. It’s definitely more than enough for a full day of usage and find some battery to spare by nightfall. This newcomer will recharge over an 80W SuperVOOC input or an 80W UFC charger.
Three out of four cameras on the Oppo Reno 16t are 50MP sensors. The one exception is a 200MP main camera with OIS. There’s a 50MP telephoto zoom lens right next to it with a 3.5x range. It even has a 50MP ultrawide unit. They even put a 50MP sensor on the front camera.
All cameras record 4K HDR, by the way. The newcomer’s default OS is sadly ColorOS 16, while the Reno 16t should have clearly gotten Android 17 and ColorOS 17 in the current climate. You’ll have to lose one of your OS updates to get the latest build.
Stereo speakers on the Oppo Reno 16t provide the best possible audio output. They’ve also put a WiFi 6 module inside it, and the screen has a built-in fingerprint reader. CNY 3,699 (~PKR 152,000) is the phone’s official price in China for the base 12/256GB version.
