Xiaomi 18 lineup isn’t whole yet. There’s still one sibling missing from the group, and it’s the vanilla Xiaomi 18. Its existence was never in question, but we were waiting for some proof to show up, and it did. This newcomer has finally passed the Chinese MIIT certification.
We have a rough idea of when it will launch. The Pro lineups predate the basic vanilla models by three months. And they’ve been consistent with this schedule for a few generations. The Xiaomi 18 Pro duo launched in September, which means you can expect to see the vanilla Xiaomi 18 in December.
Lu Weibing of Xiaomi posted on Weibo about this device. He already gave us a heads-up that Xiaomi 18 would launch separately from the rest of the group. The company will treat this newcomer as a separate lower-tier handset, which is understandable. Xiaomi 17 had the same treatment, since there was no rear display on it.
Anyway, XimiTime has already predicted a few of its key specs. There’s good news and bad news. Xiaomi 18 doesn’t have a rear display either. It’s as bare-bones as last time. The good news is that the phone will keep a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip and a 200MP main camera. There’s possibly a 7200mAh battery on the handset, which would last two days per charge. This non-Pro model has actually overshadowed the Xiaomi 18 Pro, which only has a 7000mAh cell. LEICA has done some work on the basic Xiaomi 18 as well, so their logo will show up on the triple-camera setup.
This device would technically be considered a compact phone. They’ve put a small 6.4” screen on it. Apparently, it’s an M11 OLED display, and its brightness would go all the way up to 4000 nits (peak). We also expect to see a privacy display on the Xiaomi 18.
