The newly-released OnePlus Nord CE 5G isn’t the only Nord that the brand has lined up for a launch this year. The true sequel to last year’s OnePlus Nord, the OnePlus Nord 2, is also coming in the third quarter of 2021. Ahead of this upcoming release, the first product renders for the phone were leaked online.

Courtesy of the reliable phone leaker Steve Hemmersoffer, better known as @OnLeaks, the OnePlus Nord 2 mockups were published on 91Mobiles. The images are based on prototypes, so we’re looking at the finalized design, more or less. Even with a few possible tweaks, the Nord 2 looks remarkably like the OnePlus 9.

OnePlus Nord 2 has the same muted design language, featuring a back with a smooth matte finish, a rectangular camera cutout, and a flat display. The screen is reportedly an OLED panel, seen here with paper-thin bezels all around it.

The display stretches 6.43” across, delivering a full HD resolution and a fluid 90Hz refresh rate. A hole is punched through its corner, and a fingerprint scanner is hidden underneath.

Flip the Nord 2 over to find three cameras and an LED flash laid out inside the narrow camera plate. Rumor has it that it’s a 50MP wide, 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP portrait lens array. The selfie camera of the OnePlus new model for 2021 has a 32MP sensor behind it.

The product images show the steel gray edition of the Nord 2, but the palette will include more color options. You can make out the signature alert slider button, a USB-C interface, and a speaker grille on the frame.

The Source further notes that the OnePlus Nord 2 would be the first OnePlus to rock MediaTek silicon instead of Qualcomm’s. The top-end Dimensity 1200 and a 4500 mAh battery power the phone. Up to 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage round off the setup.
