Galaxy S26 Ultra Camera Leak Suggests Meaningful but Incremental Upgrades

Galaxy S26 Ultra will have a camera bump this time. Previous generations had cameras scattered on the phone’s back with no support, and it looked great. Samsung plans a massive camera upgrade for the next model, a wider lens aperture for the primary sensor. This change has led to the design we’ve been seeing in the renders.

Three out of five sensors on the Galaxy S26 Ultra are enclosed in a vertical camera bump. This obviously changes the design a bit, but there’s more to it than meets the eye. Reports have been claiming that the old design had hit a physical limitation for increasing the camera aperture.

This lens upgrade will help the light intake for the sensor underneath. That means the camera can grab more details in a shot and take brighter night photos. We recall the previous leaks saying the Samsung latest Ultra mobile is also getting thinner, so the bigger Main lens can no longer fit within the chassis.

The camera setup has to be extruded out, which could have lent Samsung the opportunity to upscale the lens aperture on the Main camera. A new report that we translated from a Chinese source also points to a better lens coating and more accurate processing of skin tones.

The coating will obviously keep the internal reflection to a minimum, so there are no more light streaks on the photos. And the light sources will be less blown out. Samsung has had a yellow skin tone issue in the past. They are also working on it for the next model.

They are sticking to the same hardware on paper, though. And that’s something they need to change if Samsung wants to keep up with the Chinese phones. We still value the big and small changes they have in queue for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Keep watching the news for further updates.
