Xiaomi 12 Series Certified by Two Regulatory Bodies, Launching Soon with Snapdragon 898

Xiaomi releases its flagship phones in China just before the year ends. This season, it will be the Xiaomi 12 series. Official promos and teasers are still in the offing. However, Xiaomi has been quietly collecting product certifications for Xiaomi 12 phones, all but confirming the upcoming launch.

Going by a typical Xiaomi calendar, the sequel to the Xiaomi Mi 11 series land in China first. And the international release follows a few weeks later. But the Xiaomi 12 is seemingly slated for its global and domestic debut at the same time this year.

For now, the series features two models, Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro. Both phones were listed on the Eurasian Economic Commission (or EEC) database under the model numbers “2201122G” and  “2201123G”, respectively. Xiaomi 12 was also featured on BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards.)

Rumor has it that the Xiaomi 12 has a curved screen with a hole punched through its center. It delivers a 2K resolution at a 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung’s ISOCELL GN5 50MP sensor leads the camera setup at a flagship Xiaomi mobile price.

Xiaomi has bumped up the memory to 16 gigs and the storage to a terabyte — taking a page out of Apple’s latest iPhone 13 book. Cutting-edge 120W wired and 50W wireless charging powers the Xiaomi 12.

Xiaomi is typically the first to adopt the latest and greatest flagship chips from Qualcomm. And the Xiaomi 12 will not be an exception since it has the Snapdragon 898 at its heart. The mobile platform is yet to be announced. The same goes for the MIUI 13 that runs on this hardware.
