We recently covered the Xiaomi 12S Ultra highlighting its extraordinary design and cameras. Now, the handset has dropped on schedule along with the other two members of the Xiaomi 12S series, namely the 12S and the 12S Pro. However, as the 12S Ultra is the star performer, we'll cover it in detail.
Xiaomi 12S Ultra’s rear design is a complete overhaul from the previous-gen models. Eco-friendly vegan leather covers the back, with a huge Leica-branded camera module at the top. The three flagship-grade sensors are housed within a massive circular island having 23K gold chamfered edges. The device also features IP68 dust and water resistance with a liquid cooling system.
The primary camera on the 12S Ultra is a real game-changer, the first to utilize a 50.3 MP 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor. Its 3.2µm, Hyper OIS, and 8k video recording make it the best hardware setup on any smartphone. A 128° ultra-wide and an OIS-enabled 120x telephoto lens accompany the primary shooter. Both these lenses deploy a 48 MP Sony IMX586 sensor like the Mi 11 Ultra.
A stunning 6.73’’ LTPO2, 2K, 120Hz, AMOLED panel covers the front supporting Dolby Vision, HDR10+, 521 PPI density, and 1500 nits of maximum brightness. The latest 5G Xiaomi mobile also features a centered punch-hole 32 MP selfie shooter and an under-screen fingerprint. The 12S Ultra is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (4nm) processor having LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
Its 4,860 mAH battery capacity can reach 100% in 41 mins, thanks to 67W HyperCharge technology. 50W wireless charging support also takes the 12s Ultra from 0-100% in 52 minutes. Other notable specifications include Android 12-based MIUI 13, IR Blaster, Bluetooth 5.2, TOF depth sensor, WiFi 6E, and Harmon Kardon tuned dual-speakers.
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra comes in 8GB+256GB, 12GB+256GB, and 12GB+512GB storage configurations priced at 5,999 CNY (around Rs. 184,000), 6,499 CNY (~Rs. 200,000), and 6,999 CNY (~Rs. 215,000), respectively. The handset comes in Black and Dark Green finishes.
