Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 to Support 25W Fast-Charging, 3C Documents Confirm

At the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung is unveiling its next generation of foldable devices. This lineup features the Galaxy Z Flip3, Samsung’s latest iteration of the clamshell form factor. Rumor has it that this Flip will be capped at 15W charging. But ahead of its launch, the phone was certified by the 3C authority with different charging specs.

As per the 3C documentation, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 is compatible with two different chargers — the 15W EP-TA200 and the 25W EP-TA800. 25W charging support is the fastest Samsung currently offers on any flagship phone. And it’s a welcome upgrade from the 15W charging offered with the original Flip.

Samsung left the charging bricks out of the Galaxy S21 retail boxes. And we expect the trend to continue with the Galaxy Z Flip3. Even if Samsung ships the clamshell phone with a charger, it will likely be limited to 15W. So unless the customer already owns a 25W Samsung power brick, they will need to buy it separately as an add-on to charge the device at max speeds.

Note that the battery life has never been the forte of the Galaxy Flip. At 3,300 mAh capacity, the Samsung New Flip model for 2021 should face the same pitfall, especially when we factor in the more power-hungry Snapdragon 888 and the 120Hz screen. The faster 25W charging should cut down on the recharge times, buffering at least some battery anxiety for the Z Flip3 enthusiast.

The certification all-but-confirms the charging support, but the shipping details won’t be verified until August 11 (when the Galaxy Z Flip3 is slated for launch.)
