Yet another rumor points to a lighter and slimmer body for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8. Galaxy Z Fold 7 shaved off a few millimeters from its chassis, and it led to a thickness almost similar to an everyday slab phone. What they are planning for the Z Flip 8 won’t be as aggressive. But we believe it’s a step in the right direction.
The tip came from Naver Blogger. He has said in his previous leaks that Samsung is working on a more effective hinge mechanism for the Fold 8. The leak today suggests something similar, but for the Galaxy Z Flip 8. There’s a new hinge in development for this newcomer.
This updated mechanism is meant to reduce the crease on the folding display. Again, it could be more effective at the job than their last design. Apparently, the leaker believes the screen will be nearly flat in the unfolded state, which is one of the pitfalls of the current Z Flip 7 (pun intended).
Oppo managed to do it on the Find N6 Fold. The crease is completely gone, or it’s almost invisible to the eye at almost every angle. There’s no sugar coating; Samsung has been seriously slacking in that particular area. The Find N6 has been a wake-up call for the Korean giant.
There have been reports of the new Samsung Flip model getting slightly wider because of the hinge, and it could become thinner by almost 0.5mm. The weight has also gone down to 180 grams. These are marginal changes. And it looks like the no-crease display is the main highlight this year.
The Flip 8 is supposed to carry the same 4300mAh cell. And the charging is stuck at 25W. There are no risky plays in the battery department. There might be some software optimization underway to get more endurance out of this battery.
The clamshell Flip 8 is also built around the Exynos 2600 2nm with the same camera onboard as last time. You have the 50MP main shooter and 12MP ultrawide. The selfies are taken from a 10MP sensor. All the Galaxy foldables are going to launch on July 22nd in London, one rumor suggested. Keep watching the news for updates.
