Vanilla Xiaomi 18 got leaked with some key specs today, and apparently it has massive upgrades on the way. This newcomer peeled off from the original Xiaomi 18 Pro series launch a few days ago. No, it hasn’t been discontinued. It’s only delayed, and it might arrive in December.
There’s plenty of evidence out there that the device exists. Xiaomi 18 got MIIT certification in China recently, so we know it’s real. We found a leak today that predicts almost all of its specs from Panda is Bald. This leaker on Weibo has made predictions like this in the past, and they are rarely wrong.
Xiaomi 18 would have dual 200MP cameras. The older Xiaomi 17 had none. So this is already a huge upgrade, at least in the camera department. They bump the 50MP main and zoom sensors to a far better 200MP main 1/1.28” and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
But the Ultrawide camera on the back will continue to use a 50MP unit. And there will be the same selfie camera on the front. There’s also a massive performance gain on the cards. It would seem the Xiaomi 18 is built around Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip. This has a 5.01 GHz eight-core CPU and the Adreno 850 iGPU for graphics. These two sections now sit on a die that has a 2nm design process. The chipset maker has finally caught up to Samsung’s new chip design. The SoC is much more efficient than before, and it will help the battery.
They intend to put a 7200mAh cell on the Xiaomi 18 this time, which is only a minor jump from the older version. This could still translate to a few more hours of screen time. But the charging speed didn’t change. It’s still 100W wired input with an unspecified wireless charging speed.
