Other than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 and the Z Flip3, the brand also has an affordable ‘Lite’ variant in the works for the Galaxy Z Flip3. Rumor had it that Samsung has shelved the Galaxy Z Flip3 Lite, but a new report out of Korea not only confirms that it’s coming but also gives us the exact launch date. Let’s take a look.

According to the publication The Korean Herald, which cites industry watchers as their source, the next Galaxy Unpacked event is slated for August 11. Samsung has yet to send out e-invites, but previous leaks put the launch event in the same month. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 Lite will make its debut at the event.

For the past decade, Samsung has showcased their flagship Note series phones in August. But that changes this year with the new line of next-gen Galaxy foldable devices. The company has pulled the plug on the Note. The Z Fold3 will fill in for the Galaxy Note as it now supports the iconic S pen.

The Z Flip3 will be offered in two editions — the standard Z Flip3 and the Z Flip3 Lite. The Lite clamshell device would bear an affordable Samsung mobile price tag and is designed for mass appeal that brings foldables from the niche enthusiast category into the mainstream.

Multiple industry sources have already leaked the Galaxy Z Flip3 images, giving us a glimpse of what Samsung has in store. And the Z Flip3 Lite should share many similarities with the primary model. For starters, the cover screen has grown from a 1.1” panel to 1.9”, producing room for actual interaction instead of simple alerts. The new duo-tone design is also sleeker and more balanced.
